You cant add glycol to the water because what is freezing is consensate from the air. Is the filter clean? Restricted airflow over the cooling cools can cause icing. There will be a sensor behind the filter (looks like a thin copper tube). It turns the compressor on and off. If it is not working then the compressor will run all the time which can cause icing. The thermostat may be set for too low a temperature. If it is icing then your freon is OK

we've a wrap around solar porch that became needless to say put in after the homestead became equipped simply by homestead windows that would have initially been on the exterior of the homestead. We do have an AC put in in a form of homestead windows and it works nicely. yet after we don't have some homestead windows open on the solar porch with a pair of followers working to create a flow ventilization, the porch heats up extraordinarily and has an impact on how nicely the AC actually works. working it indoors could be counter-intuitive because of the fact the warmth from the AC might off-set the cooling of the unit, leaving us interior an identical temp.

Take it out of the window.
Take it out in the yard. Cover the electrical motor and controls with plastic.
Hose out the indoor coil - blast water through it until you think you got it good. be careful not to damage the fins. Do it straight on. Do the outside coil too.
Let it dry thoroughly.
Clean or replace the filter. Put it back in the window.

is it old? could be low on freon.
temp regulator not working? turn it.. does it kick off the ac compressor?
no front cover on the ac? if its missing the air deflector it will suck the cold air back in and can cause freezing.
