As a Christian, I would have to say it's because God loves variety. He made us different on purpose. However, in our uniqueness, we also have a lot in common. He made us to be distinct from one another, yet to need one another's companionship and fellowship.
I've traveled abroad extensively and found that there are at least 110 ways to do almost anything right. The major differences I found among people -- and even among peoples -- were truly minor when I really looked at them.

Than what?
Are you asking what makes each individual different?
A whole combination of things from the way we look, how we are raised such as culture, home environment, how each of our minds work e.g. smartness, emotional state or chemical balances etc., our sex......

Heredity, and environment, make us individuals. Which one is more influential is a topic of considerable study and debate.

different from what? animals? other living things? from each other?
hmm.. maybe you are referring to you and me (and any other repondents) personally.
So, I guess what makes us different is that you posed the question and I posed the answer.
