i have a small bussiness i started and i have someone that workes with me but i am finding that geting bussiness is very hard. i have printed out over 3000 flyers and but them in door handles of houses. and i have when door to door with some too. i got a couple phone calls but thats it. i have got a few people do to my mom being a hair dresser (so my clients are her clients) but thats all i have. everyone has been extremely happy with our work and has us coming on back. but i cant get it to grow. we do everything from exterior only car wash to aa full detail package. what is an effective way to advertise that dont cost much? i am going to but have a sign on the back window of my truck($50). any tips would be great. also, if you have dome this line of work then tell me, would it be better for me to get ride the smaller packages and just do the larger ones? because it takes 30 minutes to do a $15 wash and 3 hours to do a $95 detail. i go to the customer so i do a lot of driving to get$15

Why not try branding your business? A brand encourages people to try out your business and it also builds customer loyalty.

One cost efficient way of developing branding is through promotional products. And with your business, I believe the most applicable is promotional apparels. The reason is that small businesses that provide service gets their customers mostly through word of mouth and referrals. By distributing shirts imprinted with your logo to friends and loyal customers, they will now serve as your roaming billboards. This promotional strategy somewhat achieves the same effect of a word of mouth since your branding on the shirts will most likely be accepted by your target market. The reason for this is that people will see your brand or logo on t-shirts being worn by people they personally know and trust.

There are various sites that provide custom printing services on promotional products. Try the link below, they have a wide selection of styles to choose from.

Hope this helps.

Here are a couple of suggestions. Get with local auto repair shops and tell them that you'll give all their customers a 10% or higher discount off your services. Mechanics try their best to keep a customer's car clean while at the shop, but most times the car needs to be cleaned after leaving the repair shop, and that's one of the first things people do after getting their cars fixed. So this would be a good tie in.

Also get with local lawn care business and do the same thing as far as discounts to their customers. Lawn care pros are at customer's houses, around their cars kicking up dirt, dust, grass... so this ties in well also.

It makes the businesses look good to their customers when giiving these customer appreciation perks, and it make you look good to the business owners and their customers.

Also, one other suggestion is to give your current customers some of your business cards, and tell them they get a free detail for every ( ) referrals they send you. Also let your current customer know that their referral will get a discount on your services. Just have your customer write their name on the back of the business cards they give out so you can keep track of how many referrals you get from them, then let them know when their Free service is due.

Hope this helps in a small way. Sure beats printing and distributing flyers, and giving away your services and getting nothing in return.

I have a few other suggestions that have proven to work for services, so let me know if I can be of further assistance.

No freelancer likes this answer, but you're going to have to earn your credit.

I understand that your work is worthy of continuing business, but maybe you're just looking in the wrong areas. Try finding the most upscale neighborhood within a half-hour drive of your home. Do a quick walk of the area, hanging door-knob flyers offering a free at-home detailing package. You see, the average drive-through car wash is good enough for most normal people - your demograph, your potential client has to care more about their car or otherwise have a distaste for such a place to take on your business. The trick is to get someone influential enough to brag about you, and you only need one to start the wildfire.

Let the search begin for that one.

I am in the cleaning business and here is our secret to detailing very fast and efficient!
We buy this cleaning cloth off the internet. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially cleaning windows and clean mirrors. They are made out of tiny fibers. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out….hope this helps…Steve
