Is a 44 magnum that powerful? can you kill elephants with it? explain.

No hand gun will take down an elephant and neither will most rifles. Weatherby makes a fine elephant rifle a Weatherby 460 but you can expect to pay about $3,500 for it. With a 44 Mag, you're just going to piss it off and you don't want to be anywhere near by when an elephant gets pissed off.
I don't know if it's true or just hearsay but I've been told that a humming bird can kill an elephant. They know exactly where to stick that long beak and hit the brain and kill it instantly.

Yes, you most definitely could kill an elephant with it, though since an elephant is large, you would probably need a head or vital organ shot. If you missed, it would take a good number of shots to take it down, and it would be angry. Not a good combination, to be certain. Just go with a .50 cal rifle.
44 magnum will puncture an elephant... so here's to good aiming!

Well a 50 is freaking huge, so you might just make sure you have a back up gun if you empty the clip and it charges at you.

only if you mannaged to be at point blank range and shot him directly in the eye.....but you would be dead before you got a chance.
