You can rid your garden, flower beds of slugs by putting down few small bowls of beer, they crawl into them and die. Or you can put broken pieces of glass around (where someone wont be stepping of course) and the unfortunate slugs meet their demise that way also. You may try rock salt sprinkled around flower beds careful not to apply to closely to plant stalks, or some people even have some chickens/hens to eat the slugs. and harvest their chicken eggs.

get some snail spray in the store or put out a salt trapp. A little dish like a screw cap from a jar put salt in it and set it out . Beer also has been known to be a good snail trap in the garden . That is what I do here .
Know that from my Grandma.

To the person who first answered this question: You are wrong when you say that salt makes snails blow up. Actually, the exact opposite is true. Putting salt on a snail or slug will cause them to shrivel up and die, not explode.

Try getting some aluminum pie pans, bury them level to the ground. In the evening, pour some warm beer in them. Empty them out the next morning.

try surrounding your plants with a barrier of sawdust. the snails don't like it because it sticks to their foot so they keep off it.
