I'm part of the play Bye Bye Birdie at my school this month. There are a couple words that I can't figure out what they mean and they are key to understanding the play.
The two of them are:
loop-the-loop
and getting penned/pinned
that's the way we pronounce the words, i'm not too sure about correct spelling.
If you need the way the word is used....
loop-the-loop is considered a horrible thing in the play, along the lines of a "moonlight swim" and "motorboat races"
pinned is used when the boy hugo does this to kim macafee, and the small town teenagers go nuts about it

thank you soo much!

Getting pinned means a young man has given his girl his
fraternity pin-comparable to an engagement ring.
Not so sure about loop the loop but it might refer to a roller coaster.

Getting pinned means a guy gives his girlfriend their pin and they are going steady. Loop the loop is a sexual intercourse with a girl and a boy. I'm also in Bye Bye Birdie at my school and my director explained them to us.

Pinned--this was when a young fellow would give his girl his school pin--they would go steady--be a couple.
Loop-the-loop--Hmmm--difficult one--wish I knew the exact context (line) from the play but loop-the-loop is a manoeuvre in flight, a part of a roller coaster, and also a trick with a yo-yo. To be loopy means crazy. I am wondering whether it means something like 'going around in circles'--being driven crazy?

Being pinned means that a boy puts a pin like a varsity pin
on a girls sweater of jacket signifying that they are going steady-later boys just used safety pins. As for loop-the-loop, I don't really know, hopefully someone else has that answer.
Good Luck.

Pinned was a term when a boy in a fraternity gave his fraternity pin to a girl to signify that they were going steady, kinda like getting engaged.
