If I catch the mouse, is it possible for me to keep it as a pet? What do you feed mice? If I keep it and it bites me can I catch something?

Well, I wouldn't recommend keeping a wild mouse as a pet, but if you decide you'd like to have a squeaky little companion, here's what you need to know:

Do not use cedar bedding. The oils make small animals ill, sometimes killing them.

Gerbil/Hamster food is perfect for mice. You may also give your pet small amounts of popcorn, chips, bread, etc.

If your mouse DOES bite you, it may or may not break the skin. I have two pet mice myself, and neither has ever drawn blood. If you find yourself unlucky, though, pop on over to the doctor and get it checked out.

It is best not to take an animal from the wild and make it into a pet, however, I'm sure if you caught it it could be kept as a pet.. Though it is a wild animal and you don't know if it's carrying any diseases - it may be. It should have a large cage with good ventilation, but with the bars close enough that it cannot escape. There are many kinds of feed for mice in petshops, and it should have a hanging waterbottle as well. You can also supplement it's feed with treats and fruits or vegetables, fresh or dried. Since it's a wild animal there is a high likelihood that it will bite you. Also, make sure you get a bedding like carefresh, as some wood beddings can cause respritory illness in rodents.

Dr. Seuss would be the goose you should pose your quandary. He would know if a pet was yet to be found.
Feed the mouse but not to a snake. That could give him a belly ache.
If you house the mouse a bite would be not nice and a cold would be worse than to catch hold of why he wasn't so.
Don't let him sneeze at choo.
Pity the mouse that only wanted a house.

This mouse is a wild animal and i would not advise you to keep it. If you dont want to kill it you catch it with a humane trap and let it go in a field somewhere. Dont touch it.

i you want a mouse like a pet many pet stores will sell them to you the say way that you could buy a hamster and they will tell you what to feed it when you buy it.

Buy those pest repellers where it's in a little electronic device and plug it in an outlet near where you saw the mouse and there will be tiny sounds coming from it that will chase other pests away. You can't hear it but the animals can.

I don't know if it's right to put a wild mouse in a cage. I don' t think it's save to touch it. And...I'd like to feed it myself but I'm sure that if I do, there could be 20 mice in my house in few months! :-) Try not to do anything, get him out, somehow, free him, and don't feed him (or don't leave food or breadcrumbs aroud)! It's for his good. And yours. Cute little mousy :-)

You may want to catch it, in a little container, and set it free away from your house. All creatures carry diseases, so I would not want to keep it. Try buying one at the pet store for under a buck.

Get yourself a nice rat terrier or fox terrier then you have a pet and something to keep the mice away. If you want you could even get a cat.
