there is a problem.

I applied for an Honours Degree with Primary teaching and my core subject was meant to be English. But because English was a very popular subject for candidates to choose, i had to pick an alternative subject as well as the English; i chose Maths.

After giving my interview and doing compulsory English and Maths tests, and a face to face interview, i got a letter with a conditional offer.

But it doesnt seem to state which subject im meant to be teaching....English or Maths?
It does say something like "During the interview process it was noted that you would benefit from developing your knowledge and understanding of mathematics..."

Does this mean i have got the Maths course, or does that mean i did bad in the maths test and i just need to brush up?

The only way to find out will be to contact the university and speak to the person in charge of admissions, or your course tutor.

They are probably the person who sent you the letter.

Well done and good luck!

Speaking from personal experience when choosing courses for the 2nd and final year of my degree, I get the impression that your application is for both courses and the University will tell you which course you've got onto when you've achieved your results. If you meet or even exceed the required results, you are more likely to win a place on the English course, especially as the University believes that you need to work on your current Mathematical skills.

By the way, this shouldn't stop you from winning a place on the course! All it probably means is that the University will ask you to take extra Maths classes or an extra Maths course which will give you more confidence if you are allocated to the Maths course.

I agree with the previous replies on here! I suggest that you contact the University when you have achieved your results to find out which course you will be allocated to, as by then, both you and the University will have a better idea of where you're at.

Whatever happens, I wish you luck with your course!

Go you. Best to double check with the uni though. Any way in my opinion Maths is more interesting. English drags on and so many people abuse this language with slang, text language and Spanglish etc whats the point. God i hate these people.

Use common sense - call them up and ask them direct.
