Mercury is currently one of the strongest conquest brands out there. Meaning that most new Mercury buyers trade in a vehicle that is not a Mercury.

Mercury's new brand positioning and advertising is really hitting the sweet spot with a younger crowd in particular independent females. Guys like the ads because of Jill Wagner.

In my opinion, Mercury is the only Brand that Ford has that is really going well.

I own a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis that I will take over any junkie foreign brand. Mercury has a great history and I hope it stays around. It's too bad Americans don't have enough pride to buy American products and stop sending our money over seas.

GM killing Old's sucks. Oldsmobile is and was one of the oldest manufactures of all car companies. REO was an Olds Truck.

Sad to see the back bone of America slowly dieing.

Mercury is a "Make" just like 'Ford' It is part of the same Mfg. Lincoln, Ford, and Mercury. The Oldsmobile is part of the GM line of cars which are Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Pontiac,Buick and Chevrolet. All are divisions of GMC General Motors Corporation.

Well, since Ford still sees lots of demand for this model, they must've continued it's production. Until the demand levels die, you'll still see it being sold. Well, time will come. But what's wrong with the Mercury? It's pretty sorted out for a standard saloon.

Try convincing over 1000 Lincoln-Mercury dealers. They earn their living off of Mercury (and get a little extra from Lincoln). Dealers win, the manufacturer loses - same with Jaguar, Saab, and Land Rover. Ford has been consolidating its dealers in selected urban and suburban regions in recent years. So dealers and the dealer associations are mad enough as it is. Business is business.
