Here it is illegal, yes you could be charged.
Think of it like this you go to Amsterdam to purchase illegal narcotics...where it is not illegal. You bring them back to the US and are caught....you finish the rest.

You might want to leave the country. The police will probably be at your door any second now. (Kidding!)
But seriously, if you are taken something that is considered 'stolen' then yes, it would be illegal for you to have it. Think of it this way- Marijuana is legal is some areas of the world, but if it was brought here and given to you, it would still be illegal here.

If the music was downloaded in Venezuala, (and assuming you are correct about their laws), than as long as it stays there, it's not a problem.
If you make copies in the US (or Cananda or England, or wherever), without a license to do so, then you are in violation of that country's copyright laws. Regardless of where you got it.

Copyright law is COUNTRY specific not continent specific as the idiot above stated.
If it was legal for your friend to send it to you, then you are in little danger of facing copyright infringement charges here.
I really wish people would do just the slightest research on the ideas they go from their other grade school friends.
