Try watching/reading the rest of Ken Akamatsu's work ( guy who created Love Hina.) They are pretty much like love hina.

For someone who likes Love Hina, I would suggest:
Fruits Basket
Tokyo Mew Mew
Ouran High School Host Club
They're good blends of many genres and are some of the best I've seen.
Don't try Mew Mew Power, watch a fansub or dub for Tokyo Mew Mew, and Ouran anime is not in English yet, but there are good fansubs and a few fandubs out there. Check youtube.

Love hina (even though I've never watched it) sounds like a hentai heaven sort of show with no real point except sex appeal. If you're looking for the anime with the best story line in my opinion, check out Elfen Lied. The show is super gory and include some hentai, but if you can get past that (it is just art, and that's not a sin unless you think about it in a sinful way) it is definitely one of the best animes I've ever seen.

Yes there is Tenchi Muyou, Ranma 1/2, and Slayers.
All of these are fairly funny.

i watched all of these anime and they are realllyy goood!! i listed them in order like from my favorite.
THese animes are mostly shojo
full moon wo sagashite,card captor sakura,paradise kiss,NANA,tsubasa chronicles,mermaid melody,kodocha,Gakuen Alice,fruits basket,Peach Girl,Marmalade Boy,ouran high school host club,Angelic Layer,ayashi no ceres,Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne,Kage Kara Mamoru!,Chobits,DN Angel,Zero no Tsukaima,Tokyo Mew Mew.
