Marriage is a union authorized by God. No man anywhere shall over rule the word of God for whatever reason. As throughout history man has demonstrated that he cant think lone less decide for himself whats right or wrong. Besides marriage is not a crime, its what people do with or in a marriage thats the real crime, and so far stupidity of mankind is not a crime yet.

I know this isn't a serious question. The minute you outlaw something, you create a new population of outlaws, so laws should really be chosen wisely. Successful married people are long-suffering, intelligent, persuasive, and manipulative: Not exactly qualities you want your average criminals to have.

So fifty percent of marriages end in divorce. That doesn't mean that the other fifty percent didn't serve a vital purpose. There are things you can learn in a committed relationship that you simply wouldn't learn any other way (in my experience).

Should it be harder to get married? Yes! If I made marriage rules, I would require that funds for divorce be deposited into an inaccessible account prior to marriage and that a counseling session every 2 years be required with the understanding that if more are requested, that is a bonus.

A mandatory re-evaluation of the marriage contract at the end of every 7 years would evaluate whether either of the partners would like to absolve the marriage, and the funds for that purpose would always be available.

People would likely change partners every seven years, but this would take some of the edge off of committing.

Isn't it romantic?

Live well~

Why? Just because some people can't cut it? Sucks to be them.

Nothing wrong with marriage, my man; just the participants.

I've often suggested that potential couples should have to pass a semester of assorted relationship courses before they can get a "marriage license."

Hell, as a society, we're more concerned with Drivers Education than marriage relationships.

I mean, if couples are so mentally or emotionally challenged that they can't pass a simple course, then they don't get the license, they don't get to spawn kids, they get penalized if they DO spawn kids, there'll be less divorce cases, and the poor, poor men won't get taken for half their stuff. Awwww.

It's all about the relationship and what you want out of it.

If you want to live in harmony with another person, then step up to the table and put it on the line. Get some nads and maturity.

If you want to just have "sex friends" and go from one shallow relationship to another, fine. But you get a hefty fine for not making sure to use contraception; if your sex results in a pregnancy or the transmission of an STD.

I think if someone doesn't have the intelligence of a crescent wrench and can't figure out how to use contraception, they deserve to have their sorry azz fined, just like some bozo who blows a stoplight or pulls a hit-and-run.

Hey, nothing wrong with some casual sex. Have at it. Just don't get her pregnant or spread an STD.

Is that too much to ask?

Not outlawed, but not expected either. People get married for all the wrong reasons. Maybe it should be illegal until you're at least 35, there would probably be way fewer divorces!

Uhm, why? No, it shouldn't be outlawed. People should stop worrying about whether or not some idiot or half the idiots out there want divorces.

Yes outlaw marriage. Its just like slavery.

Society already has enough rules to tell you what you can and cannot do.

Why add more rules that tell you who you can stick your rod in?
