Male. I personally don't care for the name. I like the ending of "ley", but not the "ains" part. Even Wesley is better. Ainsley brings to mind a very winey little boy. I'm sorry, but that's the visual I get.

Male... that's only because the band Journey had a drummer named Ainsley Dunbar.

I think of Ainsley Harriot, scary TV chef. So I think of a large black male, nothing girly about that!

Also Ainsley's is a chain of bakeries here in England so it makes me think of that too.

All in all, the name makes me hungry!

I think of a girl. A soft spoken Southern girl. It's a beautiful name, but definately NOT a MALE name!! I suggested it to my kids, but they went a whole different direction. Be sure to try the name out with a middle & last name to get the full ring of it. Good luck!

Female. I have a cousin named Ansley (with the short a sound). I think that's a cute name too if you want to use it instead.

Female, it sounds more "Sweet" instead of masculine, but on 2nd thought it can be a boys name, since it is used by French, Irish, and so on. I think it's cute for either one.
