the student's mom or dad must've... that's why it's called 'home'work... but in the olden days it was called 'chores'... milk the cow, collect the chicken eggs, clean the stables, bundle the hay, run the plow, chop wood, build the log cabin, churn the butter, mend the clothes/sewing... make sure there was wood in the ol' stove... then someone came up with the idea of schools... but the work taken out of the house (teaching and learning in school) still had a way of coming back home... where the idea of work originated... just in a different form.
