My niece had hers done at 6 weeks. The doctor said it was ok, but the problem my sister in law and brother had was finding someone who was comfortable enough to do it. The people at 3 different ear piercing places said no--basically because the people who did the actual ear piercing were all young and felt nervous.

I've read that you shouldn't get them pierced until after they have had their shots...but honestly in my own opinion, earrings on an infant looks weird. I agree with the above answer, wait until she's old enough to ask you.Otherwise it just looks like you the parent are inflicting unnecessary pain on her to make yourself happy. A baby will not care about the fact that she doesn't have earrings!

You can pierce their ears at any time. Just make sure you take care of them.

some places will pierce the baby's ears no matter how old they are. My opinion is that you are inflicting actual bodily harm on your child. Why do you want to do that?

I got my ears peirced at 6 months old and I think that is a good age:-)

There is an article about this in the new Babytalk magazine (April 2007). It says in there to wait till the baby is atleast 4mths old and not to get it done at the mall. I guess there are doctors who perform this (?).

To be on the safe side, I'd wait until my baby girl was atleast 1 year old!
