Why is it the Closer you get to the 'Equator',,,,, the *Darker Blue* the Sky seems to look?
And the Farther North one gets,,,,,the
*Lighter Blue* the Sky tends to look?

I use to live in Hawaii on Oahu from 1970 til 1978.
And I always will remember how much 'Darker Blue' the beautiful Skys use to look.
Currently in California now for 28 years, Skys here.......and even all over the USA, Skys always seem
to appear a more 'Lighter Blue.'

Why is this ????

The sky appears blue because shorter wavelengths of light (violet and blue) are refracted more readily than longer wavelengths (reds and yellows). The diffracted blue rays are scattered as they are refracted and reflected off of dust particles in the atmosphere. The scattering is in all directions, but when we look up we see the light being scattered downwards, so anywhere we look in the sky we see the scattered blue light. At the equator the intensity of the sunlight is higher overall. Therefore the intensity of the blue waves will also be higher resulting in a more blue sky. At higher latitudes, the intensity of the sunlight is lower, and therefore will create a lighter blue sky.

The reason the sky is blue is because the sun causes the water to reflect into the atmosphere which acts like a mirror. As you get closer to the equator, temperatures rise since the sun focuses there more and thus more refelction of the blue ocean. Thats why the sky is more blue as you get closer to the equator.

I dont know, but I'd rather live where the skys were darker blue. Why did you move from Hawaii? I mean, what sane person does that? People spend thousands to go there, and you want to leave?
