Although she might have loved horses, maybe she was intimidated by them or nervous around them. Horses can pick up on this and in turn, it makes them uneasy.

Horses are sensitive creatures. It is possible this person is either not a gentle type with animals or is too loud or hyper-active with her body, which puts horses off. Or she has a bad touch; horses like to be gently stroked not patted.
Or - the few horses she has been near have been mistreated and do not trust most or any humans.
And to the poster that said they cannot show affection - you have no idea what you are talking about. I have had several horses show true affection: neck hugs, touching, soft eyes, whickering (soft nickering), one even used to pull my body to him with his chin. Also him and 1 other showed serious possessive/protective behavior ("She's My Mom, stay back") to other horses. They can definitely bond with their human.

Its all about trust. If you trust them, and are not scared, horses are more likely to respond to you in a positive way. Some horses love attention from humans, some are skiddish and less people friendly. It really depends on the horse.

Its because the horse does not know the person. the person should spend a couple of days with the horse.

Horses are social creatures, like people, but with this personality comes just not "enjoying" someone's company. Like I am sure there are people that just get on your nerves; that's what horses feel.

I personally don't like horses as a "companion" or pet because they are so big! I can't fully trust an animal that could kill me in a couple seconds. They are also extremely expensive to maintain and can't express affection in any funny or nice way. I still like to look at horses and dream of riding them, but there's no way in hell I could trust on of those things.

Well I ride horses. All I can tell you is that maybe it's because the horse didn't feel like being nice or that was just it's temperament.

Horses are a great judge of character. They can sense your emotions, when you are scared or too dominant. They are easy going animals, they don't like too much stimulation.

Maybe she was getting on it's nerves. Or she doesn't know what to do around them and she's just not likeable to them. Little kids have that happen to them a lot because the scream and dont know how to act
