why do you get less wet if you walk through the rain then if you run through it?

Surface area: If a light were shining straight down on your head, your shadow would be small compared to your shadow if the light were above and in front you. More area for the drops to hit, or you hit drops.

because when the rain comes down in front of u it will fall and miss u but if u move ur body into the rain than it will be a lesser chance that u will not get hit by the rain. also the rain is more likely to hit other places when u walk but since u run than ur body takes up more spaces while colecting the rain drops. and by the way the sponge test only effected there heads so it is not neccesarely true

they are still arguing this. the idea is that if you run you will come into contact with more raindrops than if you walk because when you walk you allow more rain to reach the ground and intercept less.
when it comes down to it, walk or run you get wet ether way.
