I think scientists are wrong, our pets may not show love as a human form but then again they are not human. The reason I think animals can love is really simple:
When I come home from work each day my child and husband will say hi mom how was your day? but my dog and cat is waiting at the door to see me the cat will meow and rub around my legs till I pet him, my dog will run up to me jump on me, lick me, wiggle his tail, and get so excited. Now that is love.

I suppose it depends on how you define love but anyone who questions that anomals feel emotions and express just needs to move our "plaid" cat when she doesn't want to be moved. Of course that one isn't love but it is definitely emotional. Clinically it is proven that cats get depresswed emoptionally as well as physically and that has an effect on their health. Any vet will tell you that. Cats express affection towards us (I call it love) by grooming us, by snuggling up against us, by bringing us presents (even if I wish they wouldn't) and in many other ways.
Not all scientists would disagree by any means. Check out the research on the effect of an animal's unconditional love on a human who is going through disability or severe depression and on elderly ppl. The Healing Power of Pets seems to be one such book though it tends to use the term bonding instead of love. Or check out the work of Dr. Rebecca Johnson, associate director at the Center for Animal Wellness, Missouri University College of Veterinary Medicine or do a web search for similar work.

I think that it is possible for pets to have great affections for their owners, but not necessarily love them in a humanistic sort of way. Emotion like that is only seen in human beings. A dog could become attached to anyone after a certain amount of treatment. And it does not mean that people shouldn't have pets because of that.

Yea... I don't get all that. A dog will bark at a stranger and run in circles and jump around when it sees it's master for the first time in a while.

the only way an animal will love you is if you show them love and scientist believe in love but they believe in dissecting it down to the core

I totally think that animals love people. The saddest thing of all is that animals love people UNCONDITIONALLY. Meaning that no matter how crappy aperson treats an animal, that animal will still love them.

HI
I know my dogs love me and they also feel hate and jealousy, they hate the mailman and are jealous when I am with another dog, they also worry when I don't feel good to think they are void of feeling is ignorant.

I think animals can love people, I think they can love one another.
Science can't agree with it because science cannot prove love.
