HEy their both modified by the same programmers anyway so it doesnt really matter cause dogpile.com (also a search engine) is made by yahoo, google, ask, msn and more search engines all in one

Google is better for searching websites .
Yet ask.com is much better in anwering problems etc and at the same time its a pretty good search engine as well.
I would say ask.com>google.com

It really depends on what you mean by better. People tend to think relevancy is all that matters but don't forget that speed, website metadata, index coverage, and ease of use etc are also critical sometimes.
But in my experience, I found ask.com helpful when my query is a specific name or topic because Ask.com usually has Smart Answers for these specific items. So Ask.com is probably more useful when it comes to finding general info.

Know that Ask requires those listed to PAY for that listing; usually charged PER-Click.
