I believe that the reason men have nipples is because they are genetically programmed into both males and females. Technically, in the developing human embryo, we are all originally female. Males only become males after certain genes are regulated to make it so. Therefore, males have nipples because it is a generalized (or unisex) gene, like eyes or a heart. It's just that when sex is being decided, males do not develop large mammary glands and excess fat pockets in the pectoral area. However, men still have mammary glands. So I guess it goes to say, the nipple is a feature of the human that is created in the embryonic state, just in case the fetus remains female. Hope this helps.

Mother nature is lazy. Rather than re-invent the wheel, all babies start with nipples regardless of sex and later in life, girls develop breasts during puberty when estrogen is released while boys normally do not. Think of mens nipples as the scaffolding left over from the creation process.

Men and women have estrogen and testosterone hormones.
Men have nipples because of their estrogen levels. Sometimes, men have enlarged breasts because of high levels of estrogen. In recent studies and articles, lavender and tea tree oils were "blamed" for causing boys during puberty to grow larger breasts than usual/needed. To stop this from happening, a change in products with these ingredients easily stopped or lessen this effect.
Okay, I hope I helped!

because nature said so.
seriously both have them ( male and female) because it is all part of our anatomy.
when it comes down to it the nipple is not the important part as you mean, it's the gland.
when all is said and done there is very little difference between men and women, but there is a difference!

When we are in the first moments of conception, women and men are the same, it is only later that the genetics do the work of diferentiation, so it is like you have one mold and the you make little changes to have it in both of your versions A and B
