here is what you do...

go to Start
All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
Disk Defragmenter

I first just a disk scan to get rid of temp files, then defrag. The disk scan is also under the System Tools.

To defragment your computer, open your Start Menu, click on All Programs/Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then Disk Defragmenter. If you have Windows XP or Vista, you can click on Analyze, and it will tell you if you need to defragment or not. If it says that you don't need to defragment at this volume, you can either do it, or not. If it says that you should defragment, then defragment. You can view the report of your disk defragment at the end of the defragmentation.
