I know this is a strange question but yesterday I was in a pet store and i was looking at this gerbil... I noticed he didnt blink his eyes.. he seemed to have a blank stare. Are there animals that cant blink?

many animals don't have (moveable) eyelids.

Fish have a protective transparent coverings over eyes so that they are protected from the water, since these coverings are fixed fish do not blink and they can take rest and sleep whilst keeping the eyes open.

Gerbils blink. In fact they can wink. It is a gerbil greeting. Try winking at a gerbil and see if he'll wink back (I'm not kidding!).

Gerbils also purr when they are very content. It doesn't make a sound, but you can feel it.

Yep, snakes. For that reason animals that like to fight snakes - like the Indian mongoose - kick sand in their eyes.
