Yes, where there is a reason there was cause. Everything does have an explanation on why it happen. Even if and when we can't or do not know why it happen or what made it happen.

Every effect has a cause, but that doesn't necessarily involve the use of reasoning, but there is a reason why everything happens. There was a reason you asked this question - I just don't know it, but something compelled you to ask it and me to answer. People die mysteriously, there is a reason, we just don't know it. When a bird dies, there is a cause, or as you might say, a reason.
My brother was killed in an auto accident. Was there a reason? Yes - ice. Was there a purpose to it, like did God command it? Then I would say no - accidents happen. If you believe in God, I would not say God caused the accident so my brother would die. He set up the laws of physics and allowed it to happen and knew it would happen, but He did not cause it.
So, does everything happen for a reason? Yes - if you use reason as "was there a cause?". No - if you are using reason as "is there a purpose for the event happening?". Some things have purpose in that case, just not all.

No, not really...
things happen, or are put into motion, as a result of a preceding action or stimulii, cause and effect, leaving with it a reason or explaination why something happened but not that it occurred "for a reason" per se.
It doesn't need to have an explaination or justification, it's simply the net result of an occurrence.
It would perhaps be more correct to ask, "do certain things happen as the result of something we were striving for?"

Naturally there is "cause and effect". Happening "for a reason" on a deeper level, I believe this is true but I don't believe in karma (at least not in one lifetime). We may not know "the reason" until years past the circumstance and we may never know "the reason" in our lifetimes. For me, heaven would be the BIG "AHA!" moment when, in an instant, all your questions about the "reasons" are answered and you are stuck in awe for eternity never to have to come back to this miserable planet.

The definition of a reason is a basis or cause for something.
I believe that if you trace the cause back to it's source, you will find that the cause of all things are the nature of the universe (or multiverse), which has no reason.
Therefore, ultimately nothing has a reason.

There are reasons but not supernatural ones. Everything that occurs must has a reason for it's occurrence or it won't happen. Cause and effect.

I think that in the long run, things tend to work themselves out. I think there are numerous alternatives and potentials, and that each can lead to a different ending. Since people don't know what the other endings are, they see the good in what has come to them, that's all.
