Take the trap off underneath the sink. They are put together with couplings that wind off and on. The trap is the very lowest curved piece on the pipe coming out of the sink drain.

Use a snake (auger). They're pretty inexpensive and work well. I just used mine last week.
Or you could remove the trap below the sink (use a pipe wrench) to clear out the muck.

There is a plumbing tool called a "snake" Using this may help push or move ehatever is clogging your drain.
After fixing this problem, go buy a drain strainer. They cost about 2 bucks.

You can try boiling several gallons of water, flushing down the drain, the heat from the water might help breakup grease, or other soluble items.

Go to the hardware store and buy a "snake" its a wire that you put down your sink and twist. be careful not to break the elbow. If its to think the get through with a snake, remove the elbow and clean it out there.

They have cans of compressed air that has a big round head on it. You put it in the drain and push down. I have used it and it works good.
