Try washing it out with a good cleaner, and then put a bowl with some baking soda in it and close the lid for about a week. The baking soda should absorb the smell. =]

Odor Ban good for cleaning. Better idea - Someone else mentioned charcoal. I have the perfect product that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. The carbon literally absorbs and eliminates the odors and works for a long time. Just place a couple in fridge and freezer. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Someone else even said available in England. Definitely worth trying

First clean the freezer well with a combo of Odo Ban (Available at Sam's Club) and warm water. After this dries, open a box of baking soda, and put a small bowl with some charcoal in the freezer. Both absorb the odors that remain. This happened to us in our camper after the power got shut off accidentally. This method worked great. Hope this helps.

Try washing it down with lemon juice and then let a couple boxes of baking soda sit in the freezer for a long time. Change the boxes every 2 weeks. Just open the boxes and let them sit in the freezer. Try the lemon juice 2-3 times if you have to. good luck

Empty your fridge & freezer of all foods and liquids, unplug unit from wall, remove all trays and/or racks from inside of unit. Spray down the inside of fridge & freezer with bleach & water. Keep both doors open for about 15 minutes then using a wet rag clean the inside of unit. When done with the inside, move the unit and wipe down the sides & the back using bleach & water with a wet rag (rinse rag often). Be sure to get the rubber around the doors clean. Wash all rack and trays with bleach & water, put back into unit. Plug unit in and reload. Good Luck!

place several small boxes of baking soda in the freezer for a week or so. they should absorb the odors. You might want to put one or two in the refrigerator side as well. Remove after one week and replace with fresh boxes of baking soda one in fridge and one in freezer. Then fresh boxes each side once a month or so.

You could give your freezer a good clean down with soap water and disinfecting sprays. Also you should throw out everything in the freezer that was in there before it was unplugged.
