There isn't much you can do right now. My first job when I was 14 I worked at a funeral home washing the funeral cars for the owner. He paid me in cash.
You just need to find something like that. I'm not sure of the age that you need to be to have a work permit, but check on that. You school would be able to tell you that. That all depends on what state you live in. I think you have to be 16 everywhere though.
Once you figure out if you can have a work permit it all depends on the place you apply to where you can work.
You are just going to have to find some kind of odd job type thing like I said with my funeral home job I had

You've got great aspirations, kid. And as long as your intent isn't to make enough for a short-term goal like the Xbox you wanted for Christmas, I'm sure you're on your way to a successful life.
There are pleanty of things you can do at 14 to make some decent money. I know when I was 12 I had a paper route, and when I was 14 I had my own local (Read: a 3-block radius) lawn-mowing business complete with business cards and flyers! Adults dig seeing a kid trying to earn an honest living, and you'll find that the things they'd normally do themselves they'll be more than happy to oursource to you if you give them a good enough reason to.
Say... maybe you want to save up for a trip to Europe in a few years, or you want to put some money in the bank for college? These are sales points to this gig, and you're going to have to have more than "I just want some money to buy things with." That doesn't sound too appealing, does it?
Think hard. What can you do that people need? Cash jobs are the best kid, so make your pre-16 years worth wild! After that, you'll be asking why the US is taking your money for taxes! And save, save, save. If you start saving at 14... just $25 a month... by the time you retire, you'll have over a MILLION* dollars!
Makes ya think, huh?

Most business insurance will not cover kids under 15 or 16, so your options are somewhat limited. My brothers worked at an apple orchard (not allowed on ladders, but did ground work).
Babysitting, doing someone's yard work (although use of machinery like a lawn mower may not be allowed). Cleaning cages at a vet's office.
Examine what your goals are. Summer work is fine, but working during the school year at your age just makes your life a grind unless your family is in dire straights.

Right now you're too young to work a job and you can't get a full time job until you're 16 so I would see if you got neighbors that would pay you to cut lawns and babysit or other things.

Depends where you live, in UK over here you are legally allowed to start working part time at age of 14, and working in TAKEAWAY RESTAURANTS is good
