please help...can anyone help me find this story or fable.... there were these poor children and their mother had no money for food (only broth), so she told her children to go over by the fence (that divided the rich from the poor), and inhale the aroma of the delicious food that the rich had during dinner time. In this way, the children got the benefits of a hearty meal, and the rich could only taste the blandness.... If anyone knows of this story, please tell me where I can find it.... have been looking all over the net... heard it when I was much younger, and it has stuck with me.... thanks!

I do not know that one, sorry.

It does sound a bit like something Hans Christian Andersen would have written. It reminds me a bit of the Little Match Girl.

It sounds European, or Slavic.

What ethnicity are you?

I could be something from your culture or something told and handed down generation to generation.
