Not so much really because I truly believe that most people here in the US can get help if they want it and seek it and ask for it.
Now I've not been to a lot of other countries (a couple...i.e. Canada haha) but I think some countries lack leadership, good governments, resources, know how etc. And Our aid is really needed. Also, helping other countries peoples is helpful to our people in many ways such as reducing immigration, and preventing social unrest, warfare etc. It is a complicated equation but for the most part I think that help for people in need is available here in US.
Although I do think we could use an increased emphasis on BASIC education.

yep.. we need to take care of our own problems here before we should worry about other countries. The only exception would be if a country is actively doing something which could harm the united states.. But other than that, we should take care of our own people first......

Yes, it does bother me. I often wonder how we can turn our backs on our failure of an education system while spending billions for the well-being of people in other countries. We can also send tons of aid to victims of the tsunami, but could care less about those who lost their homes in Katrina. Politics is all about money and people won't do a damn thing if it's not going to benefit them in some way. It's a sad fact of life. :(

To an extent it does. Our country has a lot of issues, yet they're overlooked because our government has the weird save the world mentality. I think it's good to help other countries, though we do interfere at times, but I don't think it should be done at the expense of our own country.

Absolutely! We've wasted billions on a lie in Iraq. How come we can't rebuild the katrina devastated portion of this country? How come there's no free healthcare or college? Wake up, we're not going to be able to retire on social security either!

Most definitely. Those other countries are not our people, and we should help our own first. The others have to do for themselves, just as we have to.

Well, not sure what you mean exactly by "help"..If you mean like how we are "helping" Iraq, then yes it bothers me...if you mean we donate money and food to other countries in need, than, no it does not bother me at all, in fact we should do more.
Of course we should not continue to ignore Americans in need above all, and we need to build a strnger economy and improve American's quality of life above all.

There are many aspects to this seemingly simple question. From the perspective of utilitarianism, there are greater numbers of people suffering outside our own country, and their suffering is many times worse than homelessness. SO, we help other countries
as well as our own in different ways and in differing quantities because of this disparity.

Yes, it does bother me. And as for the word helps, in many cases, it should be "helps".
They should not meddle with other countries. The US should think of putting their money into their social welfare, schools, or health system, and NOT THE MILITARY!

This has always bothered me. We should fix our own problems before we help anyone else.
