I can't stand itunes. I watched my old roommate ruin his box with that stupid program. Yeah it works for people that barely know what they are doing, but give me a break. All the proprietary crap has gotten old. I got the ipod as a gift, and would like to use it, but I refuse to use itunes, and there should be a way to do this without having to download some other god awful software. Has anyone found a way to do this that actually works? I have tried other ideas that I found online, but none of them wotk with this thing. It is an ipod nano. Please tell me.

You have to use iTunes. Apple designed the iPod to only work with iTunes to transfer file to the iPod. It has the drivers needed to make the computer recognize the iPod.

I hate iTunes to; but I figured out that iPod is only compatible with iTunes therefore iTunes will only work. Just adding if you have another mp3 device ex. Zen, Monstrash, etc. can be compatible with basically anything. But probably soon to be Apple will at least give you some choices to choose from until then you have to work with it. Also try to call the so called Apple.
