I put him in the same category as Tim McCarver (FOX - World Series)....they're old and way past their prime and they rarely have anything useful to add to a telecast. Agree? Disagree?

I think Billy packer is OK, but most people don't like him. I don't listen too much to commentators anyhow, it's just them voicing their opinion.

I completely agree that Packer desires to bypass and that he places a cloud over any pastime he covers. yet i don't think of Packer has his head up coach ok's butt; Packer has his head up the butt of any of the "suitable communities." based on the year he's Mr. Kentucky, Mr. UNC -- enable's face it, he's often Mr. ACC -- Mr. Georgetown, Mr. Syracuse. between the coolest things approximately college basketball is that the underdog specifically situations does some thing especially spectacular and that i've got on no account, ever considered somebody who's so anti-underdog as Packer. As for Tyler Hansbrough and UNC, in basic terms drop it. the rationalization Packer replaced into there is that it replaced into the "massive pastime" (even nevertheless going into it you knew it wasn't going to be aggressive and that Duke replaced into going to get wiped); i'm going to assure you that an identical incident does not be commented on if it had befell in the MVC championship pastime that for the time of the present day preceeded it. A pissed off -- not grimy -- Duke participant have been given over excited. It do not have befell inspite of the undeniable fact that it did and it happens for all time. Do you think of those "patsies" that make up the full non-convention domicile schedule of a Duke or a UNC does not choose to take a swipe at considered one of their gamers after having to play on the line in a antagonistic ecosystem for pastime after pastime?

everything is relative. Packer does his homework and still has a knowledge of the game but is hampered by a stoic delivery and ever improving partners for comparison. some would say that Dick Vitale and a few that emulate him might fall below the mendoza line of announcers for putting brashness over fact. maybe i'm old fashioned but Packer still calls it like it is. some of the new announcers pretend they don't see the abvious missed called , something that rankles me. i can, however, see your point. it's just a matter of time now.
