Last night, it was working perfectly. Until today.
My computer seems to recognise it, the icon appears on my computer. I can open the folders in it sometimes, but it's very slow when it's successful, the other time it crashes the explorer. I try to open some avi files (as big as 170mb), but it crashes. I can only seem to open very small files (like 30mb). It makes this strange sound, as if it's flicking very loudly than usual and it sounds like it got d/c all the time.
I tried to go through windows media player and open it, it works sometimes, but other time it crashes. Then I tried to transfer the large file(170mb) to my desktop and it crashed.

I use Buffalo external harddrive.. and my operating system was XP, but now I use Vista.

I've also tried to use it on my laptop which is XP, but it still like that. Please help?

If the data is important to you. You should be backing up right now before the drive get any worse. Use a backup program so will continue even after it encounter errors.

This is usually a hardware failure because there isn't much that can go wrong with the USB storage device drivers.

BACKUP is what you should be doing right now. The more you work on this drive, the quicker it will get worse.

Hi. Are you using the Power Booster? You may not be getting enough power from the USB port. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/20/buffalo_boosts_external_hard_drive_power/
