Same reason they put instructions on those car sun screens for the front dash..... so they can avoid a law suit. If there were no instructions, some dingbat would sue if his/her hair starting falling out. Also, medicated shampoos often have different instructions.

on Sunsilk shampoo they write 'in case you've forgotten, here's the instructions...' lol :D

because believe it or not there are people out there who would not know how to use it if there weren't any even in today's age. some people can't function without being told step by step how to do things. good luck.
