Hello,
(ANS) Thats a wonderful question to ask!!. The trueth is that's also like asking what is consciousness? and the fact is that scientists, neurologists & brain experts all have very brilliant theories about how thought & consciouness arises but in reality nobody yet knows, it remains a mystery still.
**The brain is an organ "so complex" in the way it functions that we still only know a fraction about how it really works.
**There are said to be a billion billion neurones in an average brain. (brain cells).
**Medicine recognises a wide number of structures within the brain, we know which areas of the brain control specific functions like image processing, speech recognition, balance, etc. But your question is very specific and we dont know the answer yet, I think thats all that can be said at present.

Thoughts originate from your personal experience and your imagination.
Personal Experience...// Personal Experience is essential to think. Your personal experience can be anything. WIthout personal experience, you wouldn't have the ability to choose the right paths to take, and what actions to fullfill. You gain knowledge just by living and breathing the air that God gave us.
Imagination...// Imagination is the action of visualizing. You can picture your thoughts, and make inferences to the cause and effects of one thought. It also produces creativity, which can be twisting the truth, or creating a new world.
Both these factors are, what I believe, to be the source of thinking and concepts. So, to answer your question, Thoughts originate from Personal Experience and Imagination.

Stimulous is received. Thought is the filter and framework of interpreting stimulous, of LIMITING perception to a managable form and amount. Thought itself can be stimulating.
Note: re: brain chemistry: the medium is not the content; brains are the origin of thought in the same way paper and ink are the origin of a book.

An Instinctual strategy by will to survive, beyond that hmmm, The friction of an unknown source with the physical. The result being an electrical signal within a device of which an interpretation is understood (with experience) and registered.

Neurotransmitters making connections at synaptic junctions. Sometimes the Neurotransmitters travel down odd routes giving rise to new and original concepts.
Basically, thinking and memory are closely related. If one can't remember, then rational thinking becomes problematical.

That's got me thinking.
Technical , philosophical or emotional answer?
My feelings, base instinct, we are an 'organism' at base level 'programmed' to survive I think our actions spring from that. We take in information process it through thought and come to a decision and 'take action' based on those thoughts.

Secret wishes from the heart, or realizations from
the sub conscience. The brain is always active. It
is never dormant so the thoughts we have is the brain coding information that has entered and making our conscience aware. Great question!

From your brain. From the want to improve, or make something of yourself. So, actually , the thoughts would come from you brain, but the true power behind that would be from your ego.
