The dryer is 4 years old. The oven is 2 years old. Both were working just fine earlier in the day. I had dried clothes that morning, and cooked some muffins too. Then that night, tried to preheat the oven for dinner, it would never heat up. The element, we noticed had arced or something, it was broken in one spot. Later we put some clothes in to dry, and hit the button, and the dryer wouldn't stay on. When you let go of the button, it stops. I checked the door for obstructions, the lint trap was clean, the timer was set as usual. It would tumble, but we discovered, not heat, as long as we kept pushing the button. They are not in the same room. Other appliances, computers, electronics still work fine, so it doesn't seem like a power surge. What are the odds two appliances would just spontaneously breakdown at the same time?
