It depends on where you are from. If you are from any Western or developed Asian country, almost any product is cheaper in Malaysia. However, the designs (clothes) and models (electronics) may be a little slower than that found in more developed countries (about a year's difference). As such, if you are looking for bargains and don't mind being a little behind, then Malaysia's the place to shop. Almost everything (e.g. clothes, CD/DVDs, electronics etc) are cheaper (though some are now manufactured in China). There are also many pirated versions so be careful where you buy from.
Things in Singapore are a little more advanced (and a little bit more expensive) than those in Malaysia. But don't compare with China where things are really dirt cheap if you know where to buy!

The goods are on the whole cheaper in Malaysia and you can find local as well as imported western designers' labels and with the currency conversion you can get clothes at bargain prices - go for the shopping malls for quality clothes, dvds and electronics, a wide selection. The night markets or pasar malam are where you can get really cheap non original goods. Try Petaling Street in Kl for a taste of imitation goods!!

I live in Malaysia and I personally think that Malaysia has pretty good bargains. They have like year round sales whereva you go, which is quite funny. Clothes, especially in places like chinatown or central market and even in regular shopping malls are cheaper than most other countries I know of. Original CD/DVDz prices vary from 35 - 60 bucks depending on where you buy from! :D

I believe the goods are much cheaper in Malaysia, because even Singaporean come and shop here, just go to Johor Bahru after office hour or during the weekends. Then again, when it comes to designer stuff, it's a little bit slow here, but then again, there's lots of choices here, I'm pretty much sure u'll have a hard time deciding what u want

If you're a tourist and you want to shop for souveniers, well hey, it's worth buying.
But then again, if you're planning for electrical stuffs and high tech gadgets, and you don't mind paying more, well, there's no harm in buying here in Malaysia.
I would suggest you to spend more on food. The food is delicious, cheap and proud to say the only place on earth where you can eat all types of food and delicacy from various races. From Malays, to Chinnese, Indians, Sikh, Wesetern, Europe, Arabs, Portugiess and natives..

i don't think you can find any cheap CD or DVD, except the pirate one. But there is a Malaysia Edition CD (it still original but not imported ). which is around RM 20.00.
