It is not the duty of any person to free another who is oppressed. We each have a moral right to do so, but no obligation.
The chief obligation of freeing the people of any nation from a oppressive government falls on those people themselves. When it comes to Iran, I think that, despite their political situation, their culture is heading in the right direction.
But, if other nations take invasive action, the leaders know how to turn the opinions of the people in their favor, which will only set things back in the long run.

Far more are held back by Christianity.
Turkey showed the way - it was in a bad state and then they separated state from religion and became prosperous and successful.
Nobody votes for any religion so they should keep their noses out of politics.
