Belgium is usually 2nd or something in TOur De France, A belgium man has the record in the IronMan Triothalon,and on my swim team, there are 2 belgium kids who break district records like every week... ANd it's Such a Small COuntry??? is it the water?

I'm Belgian myself, and it feels pretty good to hear that someone outside of Belgium has finally noticed. Got no idea whatsoever it might have to do with the water, but if something causes it, it'll doubtlessy be the beer. Also notice that Belgium sucks at about any sport that includes a ball. Now just tie the strings together...

No Belgians are not, we are just hard. We are the best in the world at cycling, and as difficult for me to say this biologically (being that i am a male, unfortunately perhaps) but we are the best female tennis stars. At the last european championships belgium took home 3 gold medals. for a country of 10 million to do so was great. The second reason is because belgians dope really well.

I haven't noticed that Belgians are any more athletic than other countries. I moved to Belgium from the US and you will see more football (soccer) fields here and a ton of people cycle but that's about the only difference I see here. I have found that the people here do really try to get outside alot more when its nice rather than going someplace indoors. They are definitely an active bunch.. but more athletic? Probably not.

where do you live? maybe you watch too much sports? Haven't heard much about that stuff here. don't watch the Olympics neither, but I don't recall Belgium dominating the events. something in your water?
