I know they are giving surprise carriage rides, fast passes, and stays at cinderellas castle. i read the site, and that wasnt helpful. so how do you win these? can you pay for a stay at cinderellas castle or a carriage?

The Year of a Million Dreams giveaways are all completely random and done by a computer. In order to prevent any problems with people saying the contest was rigged and things like that, Disney is doing everything with a computer.
The cast member is told by the computer what location to go to and which area to pick the person. It may say the last person in line at Mission Space or the third person on the bench in front of the restrooms, etc. So anything like trying to follow the dream givers, wearing special clothes, etc. will not improve your chances of winning. It is all luck and being in the right place at the right time.
Right now you cannot pay to stay in the castle, it is an exclusive price for the Year of a Million Dreams. But, I'm pretty sure that in the near future this will be something that is going to be offered, but right now the only way to stay in the castle is to win it.

That's the only way people can get those - by surprise; I suppose it's meant to preserve the dream-like experience. I heard from an unknown source that one would eventually be able to pay for a night in Cinderella's castle, but I haven't heard anything else about that. If so, it would cost an arm and a leg and then some.

The only way to win any of the stuff is by luck. I was in Disney World the begining of March and all I got was honorary citizen of disney world. That was kinda cool. My husband and I got pins to wear on our shirts and everyone was asking what we did to get to be citizens of wdw. Even the cast memebers were asking and saying congratulations. You just have to be at the right place at the right time. Good luck

i won one by volunteering to help at the country bear jamboree in the magic kingdom but they are just randomly giving stuff away throughout the parks
