Of the religions in the US most had their beginnings elsewhere so the choice is between Pentecostals and Mormons. Pentecostalism movement has given birth to a large number of organizations, denominations, and churches and has more members both in the US and world wide that Mormons. If you mean in a single organization then it is the Mormons which has about 2% of the US population as members.

The Manitou-based panthieistic Native American religions are incredibly widespread and lasted centuries. I have no doubt that, had the newcoming Europeans not possessed guns, whiskey, horrible diseases that they were strangely immune to, and massive visually stunning ships, they would've all retained their excellent religion instead of switching to our little 2,000 year old Jewish Carpenter religion.

Let's also try Disneyism. It states that if you're nice and work hard and you're Cinderalla and not one of her sisters, your dream will come true and you can live in a castle and be a princess. This is incredibly popular with modern Americans.

Baptist from America (particularly Southern Baptist) started with 1 person at Providence Rhode Island and is now over 30 million within the U.S. alone and over 75 million world wide. (note: the english, dutch, and swiss versions are not comparable to the american version of Baptists
