Ok, forget what the other two people said. They're absurd. Really, it depends on the flow of your period. If the flow is light, then you could go for 4 to 5 hours. A heavier flow causes you to change more frequently. You should be very careful with a pad because the moisture could cause you to get a yeast infection. You should also change your pad regularly for freshness.

There are a lot of variables, like how heavy it is, and the strength of the pad. My heavy days are about medium, and I like to change it every 2-4 hours just to feel fresh. some change it more often, some less often, it all has to do with what you feel comfortable with.

Change it every time you go to the bathroom! Always keep yourself clean, that scent it very pungent and you don't want to have an accident on your clothes. The more often you change it, the less you will be embarassed. Let's face it, period time is hard enough on you, you don't want to let anybody be able to know because of a smell or a stain.

I usually change mine everytime I go to the bathroom. If I have a really heavy flow, I change everytime I feel start feeling uncomfortable.
