When I had a ceramic tile floor put in about 8 years ago they told me not to use any "soapy" cleaners on it, just to use a solution of white vinegar and water. I put cool tap water into a bucket then add about 4 cups of white vinegar to it and mop. That's all I've been doing and my floor looks great. I LOVE the tile floor and wish I could afford to put tile in my foyer, powder room and bathroom as well!

There are some crazy people on here that like to use Vinegar for everything and I'm here to tell you DO NOT USE VINEGAR!!!

It smells bad and doesn't seem to get the job done.

Get some clorox clean up, soft scrub and either a good mop or a scrub brush and a bucket.

Dump a considerable amount of clorox into the bucket and mix with hot water. Then mix in soft scrub and you can even squirt some on your floor. Then scrub the area, rinse it and let it air dry.

To test afterwards just to make sure your floor is clean take a moist paper towel and rub on the floor. if it comes up black you need to scrub better, if it comes up white you're good to go!

I clean houses, and one of my customers asks that I use only ammonia (just a splash) on her ceramic tile kitchen floor. It always works well and the floor looks great. It takes off the dirt and anything else that may be stuck to the floor.

On ours I use water and ammonia. It stinks but it cleans it very well.
