the thing about the slave trade that most people dont know....
so u say that slave trade already existed in Africa. which is true Africa did have slaves at that time BUT the main thing that is different than slavery in US is that in Africa slaves could be free. After a while of slavery they were set free and also it was not dehuminzing to be a slave. It was kinda just bad luck for that person for a little while. And also the slaves didnt do all this hard labor to make a bunch of money it was kinda just like having a person to help you work. Some of those slaves actually married into the family they were enslaved to and most of them got weapons to use for their task.
Also i think it was really really bad because it totally screwed up everything in Africa. They are the poorest continent in the world partially because they are still trying to recover from the slave trade. The white man just screwed over them, and the bad thing was that they knew what they were doing was going to ruin them and it did. The African societies in that time were some of the more advanced communities. But then the white men started buying slaves so this created wars. When one tribe would conquor the other they would capture them and sell them to the white people if u didnt know, so this led to the Africans being greedy and trying to take over everybody.
Slavery in Africa was WAY different than slavery in the US.

In the context of the time you are absolutely correct, and it must be remembered that America was not the only country to have slaves. Even the "enlightened" Egyptians had slaves for centuries, as did many ancient cultures. In Africa, Negroes sold Negroes, not the "white man". Slavery was not always the horror it is made out to be today, and many were treated extremely well by the standards of the day. "Freedom" was relative. The death rate in Africa has always been one of the highest in the history of the world. Slavery was almost a guarantee to a longer life, as the slave owners had a vested interest in keeping them fit for work.

well slavery has been around for ages but slaves were treated as part of the family and in fact were prt of the fmily. they were loved and respected and in fact some people bought slaves to marry them....that is till the White man got involved nd brought his evil ways to an otherwise humane venture. white mn start chopping off slaves legs, burning them with hot iron to put his name on their body so that they will know he owns them, padlocking their mouths so they dont eat sugar cane while working, raping their women, killing the men in ghastly ways, whipping them daily etc etc etc. need i continue???? bottom line slavery was a humane venture till the spawns of devil, the white mn got involved

With all due respect, dude, I don't think we made a good business decision bringing them over here. Knowing what we know now about them, I think most white people realize we should have picked our own damn cotton.

You aren't the first person to damn business ethics.
How's your Uncle Kenneth Lay doing? Chatting it up with your Uncle Saddam Hussein? Well, I'm sure they are both receiving a hot welcome from your Uncle Adolf Hitler.
