I have decided to get rid of cable. I now have limited channels to watch, but I have noticed that there are very few "movies" shown at all. Court tv, game shows, soaps, talk shows seem to consume the day time, and sitcoms mostly consume night. (Main stations ABC< CBS< NBC have some good shows) but they don't show movies. Additionally, you can hang it up for late night - all you get after a certain time is INFORMERCIALS and I am sick of them all!! I know I could probably write the stations, but I was wondering what the "community" thought about it? (Weekends aren't much better, but some movies in the early afternoon...I've taken to purchasing DVD's.)

Yes I know what you mean...months ago we also decided to stop cable or dish, depends on which one we had at the time, and I too, noticed how boring the regular channels are.

Now I just get library dvds or mostly I just watch stuff on the internet....we got satellite on our pc for FREE, no monthly fee ever and I was surprised because it has way more channels from all over the world than what we got when we were paying for the dish every month, I was sure it wouldn't be at least as good as the dish because it was free so I was very surprised.

We got the satellite on our pc for free from an ebay seller and only paid $9.95 and we never pay for anything else from then on, which is an amazing deal because I've seen it advertised all over the net starting at $100.00 and and going up.

here's some other sites I watch movies or tv shows that I miss at times if you like:

Don't worry I'm sure after a little while you'll get tired of tv like I did and then you won't even be interested in watching it anymore like me. The weather is turning nice now so I just take my 3yr and 1yr old girls out for long walks and to the park and just play with them all day.

i think purchasing DVDs is your only realistic option without cable. you really aren't missing much, i have digital cable with all the movie channels like hbo, showtime, cinnemax, etc. and they play the same 4 or 5 movies each month. they also play REALLY old movies. who wants to see the first jurrasic park? i mean, maybe if i was extremely bored, ok. i watched dumb and dumber on there the other day and that is always a funny movie, but still. for the amount of $$$ im paying i would like some recent stuff. regular TV shows a decent bit of sports though, but if you aren't into baseball, basketball, and football then i guess that doesn't matter. i say get back cable or continue renting DVDs. or, get a bf with cable!

The days when non-cable TV networks show movies during the week are over; thanks in large part to reality television.
