It's hard to pin down an average. 4-year private universities/colleges can be up to $35,000 per year for tuition plus up to $10,000 room and board, and then there's the books! State schools, for in-state students, are significantly less and can be as little as $6,000 per year for tuition, for example. But there are many scholarships available to people, and financial aid and grants, etc. You should work hard on being a very "desirable" student and/or scholar athlete... it'll help you attract scholarships/grants.

You stole my face! i want it back. Just kidding, as a college student, college is real expensive. If you want to save, I say go to community college or a two year college first, then transfer. I only spent 600 dollars a semester like this. But at a university, look for scholarships, and grants, and loans. In Texas, if you become a teacher, you dont have to pay your loans or pell grants back.

Depends on where you go. We have three kids in college and it averages about $20,000.00 per kid per year, with no scholarship money or grants.
Most kids should be able to get some scholarship money though. Go to www.fastweb.com
