I like the classics you know the doors and zeppelin, van halen, tom petty, and it goes on and on and whenever I'm listening or wearing my zeppelin shirt I'm looked at like I'm abnormal and it's getting frustrated.

You're not abnormal if you're a musician. Maybe that's what's going to happen. Maybe this is just one of several musical phases in your life, you're creating a rich musical environment. You might be a famous singer or guitarist, or ...? That's what typically most of them go through. They go through phases of loving certain types of music, from a young age.

Take anyone famous, and they all went through some sort of awkward stage as kids.

I'm in my 30's. I'm also too young to have seen those bands live, except for VH in their non-Roth days and Petty. If I saw some 13 year old walking down the street with a Led Zepplin T-shirt, I'd think they're fine. No problems whatsoever.

You are not alone. My son, now 19 has liked those groups for many years, since grade school. Stick to what you like and don't let others bother you. Diversity is what makes the world go round. and for the record, Zeppelin Rocks! So does Tom Petty!

hey i'm the same as you! i'm 14 and i listen to old stuff cuz i can't stand modern music it's just untalented people singing with 'boom boom boom boom' in the background it's a disgrace! i feel like i was misplaced and should have been born 50-55 years ago! music i listen to all the time are the doors - all their albums! the beatles - their whole discography as well. the who! the kinks, the clash, the ramones, led zep, aerosmith, AC/DC, the rolling stones, the darkness, blondie, queen, nancy sinatra and simon and garfunkel. U2, nirvana and madonna are the most recent ones - see? i love those bands from the 60s, 70s, 80s they're the best! people think i'm really weird at school and think i'm old fashioned and boring cuz they think "old music" is a little slower and less excited than todays music but they sure knew how to rock and make legendary songs! and most of them are all like "who is jim morrison?" and say he's ugly - how dare they! my parents always say to me "awwn, you shouldn't hate the XXIst century this much, our days weren't the best you know - we didn't have internet" but i wish i were a hippie! glad to see i'm not the only misplaced person!

I love the The Doors and Led Zeppelin! Maybe you should find new people to be around cause if these people judge you for what music you listen to, they obviously have no respect for you.

The key here is that you have to not care what others think.

If you are doing something as harmless as listening to music that they are not even smart enough to know about, what is the problem? I mean it isn't illegal or anything!!

Personally, I think it is really cool to see a kid into the "older" stuff. Now, the ones you mentioned are not my particular faves, but who cares? I was talking to a guy once and said something about Credence Clearwater Revival (CCR). He was like, "Geez, you ain't that old, why do you like that music?" (He was from that era). I was like, "I like them because they were good (in my opinion) and music lives forever. Why do you think they make all those albums? I mean, it is not just so that they can be popular for one year, it is so people can enjoy all their hard work forever."

So anyway, you are not crazy. Please just don't let it bother you. The less you care about what others think, the easier your life is going to be.

Well, let's see, you aren't listening to hip hop, you aren't listening to some big boobed 27 year old wishing she was 13 again pop star, you aren't in a music cult following some one hit wonder 15 year old girl nor are you following a bunch of grown men only catering to the younger generation. Strange No way! Good choice in music...Rock On!

yo, jrod....you are weird..just kidding. but to old folk like me (40) a youngin might look disconnected with modern stuff if he has a zeppelin shirt on. Ya know? where did you get a zeppelin shirt anyway? OK, all that music is cool. but, just dont become a pothead like all the kids that listened to that in the past. listen to the santana set from woodstock. soul sacrifice.

I wouldn't worry about it. I got a lot of the same when I was 13 and I'm 34. Besides...the stuff all your friends listen to...it wasn't invented by the groups of today. They were influenced by the bands you listen to.

You can listen to whatever you want to listen to. I think today's music is really bad. I'm 15 but I only listen to music from the 80's. People think I'm weird but I don't care. You sound really cool to me.

are you kidding me? I say you are the coolest 13yr old kid. now if you listen to beatles or elvis then I'd say you are a little off kilter.

i'm sure you like rush, hendrix and some others who paved the way for true rock music, unfortunately, seems like rock has died. music today is not full of talent. i mean all this "I will over-sing one word as long as I can" sh11t is overdone. even the grudge and boy bands are all pantyhose wearing girls!
