Hi there - just had an awful experience with a cheap Eureka vacuum. I guess you get what you pay for! I will NEVER buy a Eureka product after owning this piece of crap - it's only a little over a year old, and I'm constantly having problems with it. It clogs after nearly every use! I'm no slob either, I vacuum every other day! Anyhow, I've gone through two belts in the last month, and it looks like the brush roll is broken now, because it still won't turn. It'd probably be cheaper just to replace the roll, but I seriously have issues with this vacuum cleaner! Lol* I'd rather just toss it.

Has anyone tried a Dyson? Is it worth the money? OR, has anyone purchased another brand that's been a good purchase? Hoping to get something at Walmart or Kmart! Lol* Thanks for any help! :)

I have a Dyson and am not impressed. I bought one because my mom & sister both raved about theirs. It was a very disappointing $400 purchase.

The best vacuum I've ever owned was an Electrolux. They are very pricey, but last forever and do an absolutely fantastic job. They cannot be bought at a store. You have to call information or look online to find the nearest dealer. I've had my Electrolux since 1999 and it has never needed service. Nothing sucks like Electrolux!! Hahaha, just kidding. Seriously, its a great investment.

I have a Dyson and they're OK. A bit disappointing for the money. It does well when I'm doing regular vacuuming, but I use the hose attachments a lot. The hose attachments are rather awkward on the Dyson - the cord has to be completely unwrapped and you have the remove a tube before you can use the hose. It's rather inconvenient.

I own a cleaning service where we clean several rental properties which includes vacuuming many carpets on a daily basic. In my first year of cleaning I had used 6 different brands of vacuums, with no luck. Then I purchased a few Bissell Powerforce Bag-less Vacuums. Have only used this brand for the last couple years and they are still working just as good as the day I got them. Another plus to this vacuum are all of the filters are washable. They are available at Walmarts for like right around $50.00

My hubby is a general manager for Best Buy and he said that they get alot of returns on Dyson vacuums. I think the best vacuum is probably a Kirby but they are going to cost you 2 arms and 4 legs.

I'd go for Meile, but there are many good vacuum cleaners on the market. I would however avoid Dyson. In my experience the motors are inferior on Dysons and are prone to breakdown.
When you do buy one check the motor size in Watts, the higher, the better for suction, which is after all the reason for their existence.

I have a Oreck and love it. I went on the Oreck web site (google it ) and bought a reconditioned vaccum for $199.00. Seems pricey, but i have had it for 2+ years and have never had any trouble with it. Also, the reconditioned model i bought looked brand new.
