I have a major issue. I had to jumpstart my car recently due to a dead battery, and I connected the cables in the front (not directly on the battery). Now, I have this error that says "CODE" on my radio and have I have the radio code (and is correct and verified), but it won't work. I have entered it up 3 times, waited (with the ignition on) and rentered and still a NO GO. Dealer wants $110/hour to fix this.

I was told to locate the battery on my car and then if i disconnect the battery for 15-30 min. it will reprogram itself allowing me to enter code and accept it. My questions are:

1-Does anyone know location of battery for a 1995 BMW 540i? I see no handles to pull in my backseat.

2-Does anyone know another way to resolve a CODE error on your radio?

The battery should be under the rear seat. There are no handles to pull. With your fingers, you should be able to lift either seat end upward to get past the center locking clamp.
You will probably have to go to a dealer to get a code reading removed from your radio. There are many radio types, but you can try leaving the radio and ignition on for a 3 hour period to overcome the code lockout. This is done intentionally to reduce radio theft. Try another dealer, presenting him with the make of radio, serial number, and proof of ownership of the vehicle. Maybe he will look it up in the radio serial number register and tell you the code. RSVP.

I used to own a 1981 Audi 5000 in which the battery was UNDER the back seat. I could NOT believe this, however this may be where your battery is and you probably just need to pull the seat off, most likely there are no handles to do that with. Good luck!!

I had to jump start my car (BMW 323ci) after leaving the lights on. Like your car, the cables attached to posts under the hood. Believe it or not, the battery itself is in the TRUNK. Accordingly, look in the trunk. BMW plays hide and seek with parts and components.
