Ok so this may sound dumb but this is my first pregnancy. I was wondering when your 9months & is safe to go into labor if sex makes you dialate to start the labor?? I know sex helps bring on labor but does it make you dialate? Sorry if it's a dumb question! Its my first pregnancy & was just curious.

The reason people say to have sex top start labor is simple. Your orgasm can start contractions and his semen can help ripen the cervix (make it soft and short-needed to dilate). It was a very good question too, never feel stupid for asking a question.

I was told that it will help with the contractions and that is what will make you dialate. It's not a dumb question I had the same one.

it's not a dumb question at all! I don't think it can make you dialate, but it could start the labor that could start the dialation process.

I'd ask my doctor first before asking on yahoo answers. But I had a personal experience with this myself. Nothing bad happened, but I was about 5 days from my due date and gave into temptation and about 4 hours later my water broke. My boyfriend paced back and forth all day long wondering if he had given the baby brain damange...Funny,,,just thought I'd share :)

Not dialate. The only thing sex does if your body is already ready, the semen can help soften the cervix. Besides that, if your body isnt ready, it does NOTHING.

If your water is broke you should not have sex. It probably won't help you dilate it just can stimulate uterine contractions.

i dont think so but it will bring on da labour as in a mans sperm it has the same drug that they give u if u are overdue which brings on labour

Sex starts contractions of uterus, especially if you have an orgasm!
