SAM-e supplement. I can't say enough good things about it. It is natural and there are no side effects. You can get it practically anywhere. It's less expensive than drugs, you don't need a prescription. And it actually WORKS! You'll feel better within 24 hours. It worked for me!

St. John's Wort, Valerian, both work well. You do not want to mix the two together though. Black Cohosh also helps, you can take it under the name Estroven, it is mixed with some other herbs. Helps with menopausal symptoms, as well as depression, mood swings, hormonal imbalance, irritability, anxiety. If you choose Valerian, be sure you can allow a full eight hours to sleep, I took it too late in the evening and felt groggy till about 11 the next morning. Taking earlier in the evening helped, was alert and ready for the morning commute.

I looked in to St Johns Wort and SAMe but didn't like the findings related to their effectiveness from people who sell those products regularly. Also the cost and other things...Wort does other things.
I ended up trying and LOVED a Nature's Sunshine product called Mood Elevator (concentrated version). I take two capsules in the morning and am fine all day. It's herbal and I am feeling better by day 3 of taking it and best of all NO SIDE EFFECTS WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!!
Good luck to you...I hated being on synthetic antidepressants/anxiety meds.
You will find your magic pill...just do your research. If you have any local herb/natural food stores you could ask them what their favorites are...they are the experts. :)

The herb St. Johns wart is worth looking into for mild depression. It has not had a good rap lately, but new studies suggest it is effective for mild depression, anything more severe might not be alleviated. If you have more than mild depression, it will be like taking a Tylenol for a migraine. Do not fear getting treatment for your depression. They have done wonders in the area of medicine. I can tell you from experience.
